PHILOSOPHY AND REASONING CORE COURSES

Philosophical reasoning and logic are the core courses of our program, as they are the basis of all thought and everything else a human being does. In the “postmodern” world, the ability to spot and refute deliberate deceptions is a survival level skill that is constantly needed. DLS philosophy and reasoning courses explicitly teach the skills of critical thinking, argumentation, research, scientific reasoning, logic, and the history of classical philosophical streams. Students read and discuss the classical works – in the case of older students, by reading them directly. Our belief is that our job is to expose students to all ideas, and to teach them how to evaluate them critically using logic. Then, it is the student’s right to choose what to believe based on their sovereign evaluation of the truth. Our Philosophical reasoning core courses are how we give them the ability to decide, for themselves, what the truth is.
