Description
This course teaches basic skills of scholarly research, argumentation, and avoiding deception. Students learn by reading extracts from seminal works of philosophy and logic, resources prepared by D.L.S. and most importantly through activities in which they practice argumentation, debate, and identifying fallacies and deceptions. For this age group, there is a large emphasis on the classical works of philosophy and reasoning. We will read extracts of classical works from Aristotle, J.S. Mill, Locke, Bastiat, Hayek, Rand, and many others. Methods include: Socratic style discussion; Guided research; interactive activities on the Miro Board – a virtual classroom tool with almost limitless tools; and use of high quality professional online resources. Appropriate for ages 15 to adult. Cost: $250 for 20 hours
